XA4 aka Xavier Boot guest on NPO Klassiek's 'Vrij Spel'
Every Saturday, De Muziekfabriek is all about the Vrij Spel (Free Play) segment. In Vrij Spel, presenter Jet Berkhout challenges musicians to breathe new life into a classical piece. They step away from the score and search for their own personal sound.​ On 14 December 2024, pianist Xavier Boot, known by his stage name XA4, was a guest at the NPO Klassiek studio for Vrij Spel.
Xavier is currently in Indonesia seeking inspiration for two albums he plans to record this autumn. One will be inspired by gamelan music, and the other will be about his grandfather, who died there during the “police actions” after being hit by a torpedo
Stephen Emmer wins Global Music Award for new album Mt. Mundane
Dutch composer Stephen Emmer, also known as the creator of TV tunes for teh Dutch NOS Journaal, RTL Nieuws, RTL Late Night and RTL BLVD, a/o, has won a Global Music Award in U.S.A. for the compositions on his new album Mt. Mundane. This is the third time Emmer has won a Global Music Award for his music. For the release of Mt. Mundane, media coverage was provided in Het Parool, NPO Radio 1, NRC, NPO Klassiek, Luister Magazine, OOR, De Telegraaf, Nooit Meer Slapen, Humberto, Ruud de Wild a/o.

Second pop-up exhibition National Slavery Museum in The Hague
The National Slavery Museum, in the process of being established, opened a second pop-up exhibition at the National Archives in The Hague at the beginning of October 2024. The exhibition focuses on the global history of Dutch slavery. It has been featured in the AD, Het Parool, NRC and NOS, among others.

On Oog op Morgen on NPO Radio 1, there was a very interesting interview with two descendants of Belanda Hitam, “black Dutch people”. Joyce Cordus and Hank van Bosstraten talk about the revealing history of their ancestors.
B!Music School (B!MS) in Amsterdam-Zuidoost will receive structural funding for the first time for the next four years.
The music school is more than just a place to learn to play an instrument. “We try to guide students from vulnerable to promising.” This music school with a community function in the Bijlmer neighbourhood goes the extra mile: “I see us as co-educators,” says director Ellen Alvares in Het Parool.

‘I haven't often been able to visit a museum and really see and feel this history.’ That's what Mustafa Abbas (27) said at the Amsterdam Resistance Museum prior to the opening of an exhibition about resistance in the former colonies of Indonesia, Suriname and the Caribbean islands. We were asked to handle the publicity for this exhibition about resistance in the former colonies for the Amsterdam Resistance Museum. Provided marketing and PR services for the Resistance Museum Amsterdam in connection with the reopening of its new permanent exhibition. Generated significant attention in national media such as NOS, de Volkskrant, NRC, Het Parool, Trouw and AT5, with the icing on the cake being a major article in the New York Times: ‘In recent weeks, though, the museum has unveiled a new display designed to be more inclusive and to illustrate the nuance and complexity of history. The exhibit portrays the lives of victims and perpetrators, bystanders and resisters, and everything in between,’ said Liesbeth van der Horst, the museum's director, in an interview. ‘We wanted to tell the story of all the Dutch people.’

NOS: Slavery Museum launches pop-up exhibition on resistance
A preview, according to the National Slavery Museum in Amsterdam. The museum itself will probably not open until 2030. But starting this Friday, the first exhibition, Resistance to Slavery, will be on display at the Resistance Museum in Amsterdam. ‘It's a chance to practise and show what it could become,’ says quartermaster Peggy Brandon. ‘This is the first version.’

For the CPNB Foundation (Collective Propaganda for Dutch Books), news items were created with NOS and RTL Nieuws to generate more attention for Children's Book Week, which was starting that week. Rosendaal: ‘Dutch illustrators are popular. There is high demand for illustrations both in the Netherlands and abroad. Not only do Dutch illustrators receive many (international) commissions, their picture books are also frequently translated.’

CPNB - Boekenbal
The CPNB has been organising the Book Ball for more than 65 years, and for decades it has been held in the Stadsschouwburg theatre in Amsterdam. Given the theme of Forbidden Fruit, it was decided – based on an idea by Peter Rosendaal – to move the event to Paradiso, “paradise”, for this one occasion. This news was, of course, picked up by many key media and, as is customary in the literary world, caused a traditional and amusing 'media dispute'.
